| A masters degree is not required as a prerequisite for entry into
the Doctor of Philosophy degree program. The Ph. D. program is the
main research-oriented degree program of the IME Department. It
is through the research activities of faculty and students involved
in this program that the viability of the masters programs and the
timely evolution of the undergraduate program are assured. Based
on this philosophy, the Ph.D. degree is awarded primarily as a result
of the completion of original research work rather than on the basis
of the completion of course work alone. Research may be carried
out in Manufacturing, Operations Research, Ergonomics, Quality Engineering
or some combination of these areas. A doctoral student can obtain
one of the following degrees.
- Ph. D. degree in Industrial Engineering
- Ph. D. dual degree in Industrial Engineering and Opeations Research
- Ph. D. degree in Industrial Engineering with a Minor in Operations
