What are the Advantages of Studying IE at Penn State?

First of all, we are among the top four industrial engineering programs in the U.S., according to U.S. News & World Report.

Ours is the first IE program in the world to offer a baccalaureate degree.

We have developed a strong tradition of innovation and have worked hard to develop the faculty, facilities, and programs that will not only keep us ahead but lead the pack. For example, our partnerships with business and industry ensure that our students can learn the skills the marketplace values most today . . . and the emerging technologies of tomorrow.

Our 26 full-time faculty are student-oriented, accessible, and passionate about industrial and manufacturing engineering—these people are not only engineers at the top of their fields but also accomplished teachers.

Our spacious, new $12 million building is home to some of the best and most student-oriented IE laboratories in the country.

Our Factory for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME) Lab, a working manufacturing facility where students learn traditional manufacturing processes as well as automated, high-tech computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM) cells and robotics.

IE students have unrestricted, dedicated access to four computer labs (more than 100 networked computers) with high-speed internet access and top-of-the-line software.

Active co-op program, study abroad opportunities, and seven student professional societies.

Corporate-sponsored undergraduate student study lounge.
