Greg Herzing(IE '01 MS '04) currently works at Hayward Tyler, Inc. as a unit contract administrator. Prior to HTI, Greg worked for UPS and Tyco Electronics. Greg got married in 2005 and moved to Burlington, Vermont from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, so his wife could pursue her Ph.D. in experimental and behavioral psychology at the University of Vermont. Amanda Cole(IE '02, MBA '06) is currently employed as a LEAN facilitator and programs manager for WESCO Distribution and was married to Ben Cole on May 1, 2009. Ben is a graduate of Villanova University, Thomas Jefferson Medical School, and Temple University and manages several outpatient Physical Therapy clinics in suburban Pittsburgh. Bron Holloway (IE '04) is currently living and working in Peru as a Peace Corps volunteer. As a small business development volunteer, she primarily works with an artisan group of female weavers, she strives to improve group dynamics and organization and also helps them to find and enter new markets. Some of her other volunteer work in Peru includes teaching business skills to at-risk youth and aiding the disabled in obtaining medical treatment. David Walters (IE '07) currently works at MWH Global in Chicago, Illinois, as an associate mechanical engineer. The company is primarily in the 'wet infrastructure' and renewable energy sector. His position is acutally as a mechanical engineer in the hydromechanical design group working on large hydroelectric projects, locks and dams. Jane Snowdon (IE '81) has been inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Engineering Alumni at The Georgia Institute of Technology, where she received her Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering. The Academy, initiated in 1994, recognizes those members who have made outstanding career achievements. The Academy's ceremony is held annually with only fifteen outstanding individuals selected each year worldwide. Jane has also been named to the Industrial Advisory Board of Stony Brook University's newly formed Medical Division of the Center for Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT-MD). Jane is currently a senior manager at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center and has responsibility for developing strategies and driving research efforts globally to create innovative solutions for small and medium-sized businesses in areas such as collaboration and social networks, security, systems management, cloud computing, and green supply chain. Fred Oleson (IE '74) currently works for BAE Systems US Combat Systems division as staff systems engineer in the York, PA facility. He is responsible for institutionalizing quantitative project management for the division. Fred is married to with two grown daughters, and is preparing for the wedding of the youngest daughter inmid July. (posted 07/07/09)
John Weller (IE '79) currently works as an estimating and planning specialist for the United States Postal Service. In 1988, John started with the Postal Service and developed the first computer controlled in-process automated tray staging system called the PASRS which was installed in Sacramento, California. John also developed, in concert with HK Systems, the micro miniload aisle captive tray staging systems in use today in many facilities. In 1995, he started work on adapting commercial material handling robotics into the postal environment to address repetitive motion injuries. Generation One was based on the FANUC M410iW four axis material handling pedestal type robot. The Generation Two cells were based on the ABB Gantry style robot. In 2000, John was awarded the Golden Robot award by the International Federation of Robots (IFR) in Montreal, Canada, for his contribution to expanding robots into the Postal Service. The United States Postal Service is the world's largest user of gantry style material handling robots with well over 300 robots. Currently, John is developing the use of Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) in primarily material handling and asset tracking applications. John has three daughters. (posted 03/19/09)

John Grofcsik (IE '61) is retired. During his career, John was a U.S. Navy Pilot, an airline pilot for PanAm & captain for American Airlines. John established the department for engineered standards for airline services at both airlines and also worked as the Financial Controller of Operations at AA. (posted 03/17/09 )
Chet Ross (IE '61) was recently name district director for SCORE in Greater Phoenix and across Arizona. SCORE is a nonprofit association of volunteers dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. The organization offers free and confidential advice to small businesses. In his new position, Chet will coordinate with area chapters to manage and elevate small business counseling, workshop and fundraising programs. (posted 11/10/08)
Jeffery Cohen (IE '65) works at the University of Maryland as assistant conptroller. Each semester at the University he is a speaking partner to an international graduate student, and this year's student is from Japan. G. Thomas Phillips (IE '68) worked at General Electric until 1973, when he decided to enter dental school at the Medical College of Virginia, where he graduated in 1977. He has been in private dental practice for 31 years and is included on the list of Best Dentists in America, a peer selected list. Paul Steel (IE '68 MS '74) is president of Total Quality Inc (TQI) which he founded in 1991. Paul is a 2008 member of the Baldrige Board of Examiners and an original 1988 Baldrige Award Board of Examiners member, serving as NIST Examiner, Senior Examiner, and Alumni Examiner, and is the only person to serve as senior examiner in three different decades. He has more than 25 years of application, management, education, and consulting experience in the organizational excellence field. His international consulting experience includes over 220 consulting assignments in Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Australasia, and South America. Paul served as a Washington State Quality Award (WSQA) Judge/Board of Directors Member for 12 years. He is on the KPMG Technical Advisory Committee and served as a Fortune Magazine Best Practices Awards Judge. He is a senior member of ASQ and he holds masters degrees in business and engineering, is visiting professor in the graduate masters program in quality management at UPH, and has served as an adjunct professor of process management. Charles Moser (IE '52) spent 37 years with the Western Electric Co., attained middle management status and then retired in 1982. His major career highlight was spending 5 1/2 years in the middle east -- 2 years in Iran and 3 1/2 years in Saudi Arabia. The last 3 was spent in Saudi Arabia with Aramco, where he retired again in 1985. (posted 12/01/08)

Jonathan Plaut (IE '57) is retired in New Jersey. During his career, Jonathan was an adjunct professor of environmental policy at Ramapo College and Rutgers. In addition, he was a presidential appointee for NAFTA during the Clinton administration, a senior enrionmental advisor at the United Nations in New York City, president of Global Learning of New Jersey, and a trustee of Summit Library. Norbert Gaelen (IE '47) retired from his position as chairman of O.Berk Co. in 2006 after 59 years. Norbert recieved a U.S. patent for a bottle set design, called "Trio" in 2207. (posted 03/26/09)
Alexander (Lew) Parry (IE '48) retired from his position as VP of purchasing and general services at Philadelphia Electric Co. after 41 years in 1988. Lew started at Penn State in fall of 1942. By spring of 1943, he was in the Army and ended up in the Air Corps, based in Guam, with 31 missions over Japan. He ended his service as a Lt. Col. and a navigator and returned to Penn State in fall of 1946. Lew has been married for 62 years, with three children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. (posted 03/20/09)
