One of the strengths of the IE Industry Projects program is our
unbeatable student laboratory facilities. In fact, Penn State's
IE department, located in Leonhard Building, has more laboratory
space dedicated to student instruction and research than any other
IE program in the U.S. Penn State IE student have hands-on access
to leading-edge equipment and software not available in other programs.
IE is proud to offer the following instructional laboratories for
students to learn and apply cutting-edge engineering principles.
Our Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering department is known
nationwide as a premier research center and innovator in industrial
and manufacturing engineering. Cutting-edge research takes place
daily in many of our prestigious research labs.
The Leonhard Building, home of the Harold & Inge Marcus Department
of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering also offers a wide range
of general purpose areas dedicated to providing students with a
comfortable learning environment. The Leonhard Building includes
three general purpose classrooms which hold between 14 and 36 students
and two lecture halls/auditoriums which can accommodate up to 90
students. Each of the general purpose classrooms and lecture halls
is equipped with chalkboards and overhead projection units. In addition
to classroom space, IE students also have access to a 24-hr PC
Laboratory equipped with a variety of technologies, an undergraduate
student lounge and a graduate student lounge.
