Harold and Inge Marcus Department of

Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering

The first Industrial Engineering department in the world

PC Laboratory

The main objective of the PC Laboratory is to make available a departmental computing facility where students can work on class reports and projects while having full Internet capabilities. The room layout was specifically chosen to allow for collaborative work on engineering group projects. In addition, a raised floor construction exists to eliminate the presence of tangled cables throughout the lab.

PC Laboratory

The PC lab, available 24 hours-a-day to all students enrolled in IE courses, is equipped with...

  • 35, Dell Intel Quad Core, 2.40 Ghz workstations with 4 gigabytes of RAM, 512 megabyte graphic cards, and CD-RW drives
  • 19 Inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitors
  • 100 Mbps Networking
  • Black & White and Color Laser Printing
  • Flat-Bed Scanning
  • Coin-Operated Photocopying

Software offerings in the lab include: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook, Outlook Express, Project, Frontpage, Visio, Internet Explorer, Minitab, Matlab, Arena, and ProEngineer "Wildfire". Other software packages such as SAS, GAMS, Lindo, Lingo, What"s Best, The Machinery Handbook, and Microsoft Visual Studio are provided as requested to meet the needs of our student population.

One additional special purpose PC is available in the lab and is equipped with special use software and hardware. A scanner is attached to this computer to allow the students to insert images into reports and presentations. Additionally, software such as Adobe Acrobat Writer is installed on this machine to allow students to generate or edit PDF files as needed.
