Metrology Laboratory

The Metrology Laboratory provides support for undergraduate courses in statistics and production engineering. Training and additional background information is provided in this lab through large screen media: a Sharp video\computer projector and VCR is used to project PC sessions for all students in the lab to view while working on similar software on their own PC stations.

Metrology Laboratory

  • The lab is equipped with...
    • Five precision electronic balances used for teaching statistical process control and response surface methods
    • Laser micrometers used for characterizing turning processes and for exercises in setting sample sizes for confidence interval calculations
    • Five manual measurement stations with measurement fixtures for using manual micrometers
    • Two coordinate measurement machines located in a temperature controlled area
    • Roundness testing gauge located in a temperature controlled area
    • Laser interferometer located in a temperature controlled area
    • 11 PC workstations installed in desk units that place the computer equipment in a recessed position
