Metrology Laboratory
The Metrology Laboratory provides support for undergraduate courses in statistics and production engineering. Training and additional background information is provided in this lab through large screen media: a Sharp video\computer projector and VCR is used to project PC sessions for all students in the lab to view while working on similar software on their own PC stations.
- The lab is equipped with...
- Five precision electronic balances used for teaching statistical process control and response surface methods
- Laser micrometers used for characterizing turning processes and for exercises in setting sample sizes for confidence interval calculations
- Five manual measurement stations with measurement fixtures for using manual micrometers
- Two coordinate measurement machines located in a temperature controlled area
- Roundness testing gauge located in a temperature controlled area
- Laser interferometer located in a temperature controlled area
- 11 PC workstations installed in desk units that place the computer equipment in a recessed position
