The Human Subjects Testing Lab is an interdisciplinary laboratory
for the testing of human subjects, shared by a variety of faculty,
primarily in the human factors area. The room is subdivided into
a waiting area with sink and two smaller testing chambers, one of
which is set-up with eye-tracking equipment.
A variety of experiments have been conducted in the Human Subjects
Testing Lab, including:
- Identifying visualization strategies on the design efficiency
of a cantilever I-beam
- Measuring the effects of risk visualization representations
on subject resource allocation strategies in a homeland defense
task
- Estimating the physical workload imposed by wearing a respirator
from heart rate changes and individual characteristics
- Evaluating user acceptance of new product feature upgrades
