We gather aggregate and general information on the use of the website,
such as how the site is used or which information is of most interest
to end-users of the site. Users in this case are always anonymous.
This information helps us to improve the site.
Security When Transmitting Personal and Sensitive Information
Whenever you enter sensitive personal information into one of the
Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering webforms and submit it
to the server, the information will be transmitted from the location
of your computer to the Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering
server. However, we have secured the website where you enter your
information, making it very hard for others to view or intercept
that information when it is being transmitted. Secure websites use
an encryption process where the information is encoded before it
is sent from your computer and decoded when it reaches its location.
Although unlikely, it is possible for others to intercept the information
on its way from your location to our server.
Security of Stored Information in the Database
While your information is being stored in the Industrial and Manufacturing
Engineering database, it can only be viewed by authorized personnel
for the purposes stated (recruiting, volunteer activities, etc.).
Prior approval is always needed to gain access to the information
in the database. The database is protected through several security
measures such as Virtual Private Network, access codes, etc.
General Information Disclosure
Other than the uses above, the Penn State Industrial and Manufacturing
Engineering does not provide information to anyone not associated
with the Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department. The
only exception being when the department is required by law to provide
information, or to protect the department and our users.
Resumes and/or Registration Information for Specific Site Purposes
Within the Penn State Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering
Department website are opportunities to enter resumes for job search
purposes, to make requests for information or register for volunteer
and other participatory activities. By registering information on
ie.psu.edu, you agree to release your information to the appropriate
people as described on the site pages. These people include faculty,
administrators and authorized employees of the Industrial and Manufacturing
Engineering Department and the Pennsylvania State University. In
the case of resumes that are entered for the express purpose of
forwarding them to prospective employers, the resumes will be accessible
to prospective employers.
The Penn State Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering website
has software in place to block any unauthorized users of webforms,
but cannot guarantee that other parties will not, without our consent,
gain access to this database.
If at anytime individuals wish to remove their information from
the database there are mechanisms in place to do so. Be aware, however,
that if information has already been downloaded or if employers
(in the case of Cooperative Education) have received electronic
or printed resumes that those resumes cannot be recalled. In that
case, the Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department is
not responsible for the retention, use, or privacy of resumes.

welcomes feedback. This feedback may be used to help publicize the
