IE offering summer distance education courses

During the summer of 2009, the College of Engineering, along with IE, will offer the following undergraduate courses in a distance education format:


IE 327 Introduction to Work Design
This course teaches work design and measurement, applied to manufacturing and service industries for improved worker performance, health, safety, and to maintain productivity.

IE 419 Work Design - Productivity and Safety
This course provides industrial engineers with additional tools to better design jobs and the workplace, in terms of productivity while maintaining the health and safety of the worker.

IE 424 Process Quality Engineering
This course teaches statistical methods for engineering process characterization and improvement for non-industrial engineering majors.

IE 553 Engineering of Human Work
The course focuses on the physics and physiology of humans a work; models for lifting, manual materials handling, muscle strength and EMG, physical work capacity, and rest allocation; special emphasis is given to learning about measurements, instrumentation, and laboratory experimentation.


Summer registration opens on February 9, 2009. To register for these courses on eLion, either enter the schedule number or set the location to "World Campus" and search for the course.
