Koubek presents "100 Years of IE at Penn State"
Richard Koubek, the Peter & Angela Dal Pezzo Department Head Chair of The Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, presented "100 Years of IE at Penn State" at the Enterprise Integration Consortium (EIC) Industry Advisory Board meeting, held at the Ramada Inn Conference Center in early February. The EIC Industry Advisory Board, a select group of representatives from industry, meet annually to provide guidance to EIC on enterprise integration at Penn State. The group regularly communicates industry trends, provides recommendations on initiatives that the program should undertake, and offers guidance on academic issues.
During his presentation, Koubek discussed the founding of the oldest IE department in the world - Penn State IE - by Hugo Diemer in 1909, and noted that the department is celebrating its centennial this year. Koubek also highlighted the department's contributions and reactions to important periods in history, including World War I, the Great Depression, World War II, the Vietnam War, the manufacturing boom during the 1980s - 90s, and the new Millennium.
By discussing the future plans of the department, including the new strategic plan and global focus, Koubek ended the presentation on a high note, emphasizing the department's commitment to world-class engineering education.
