Three members of IE department chosen as PSES award recipients
The Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering is proud to congratulate three members of the department for being chosen as 2009 Penn State Engineering Society (PSES) award recipients.
Dr. Andy Freivalds is the recipient of the 2009 PSES Outstanding Teaching Award, Mr. Dan Supko is the recipient of the 2009 PSES Outstanding Staff Award, and Dr. Robert Voigt is the recipient of the Lawrence J. Perez Memorial Student Advocate Award. Every year these awards recognize outstanding contributions, research, teaching, advising, and service in the College of Engineering. Freivalds, Supko, and Voigt will be recognized at the PSES Faculty/Staff Awards Ceremony on Friday, April 17, at 1:30 p.m. in the Kunkle Activities Center.
The Outstanding Teaching Award recognizes and rewards outstanding engineering educators for excellence and effectiveness in teaching. This teaching award was established to bestow honor on individuals whose inspiration and contributions to learning are truly memorable.
The Outstanding Staff Award recognizes and rewards outstanding service by staff employees in the College of Engineering. This award honors dedicated individuals who make contributions that exceed normal expectations, demonstrate initiative, and exhibit a positive attitude towards their work and interactions, among other important characteristics.
PSES is the only all-alumni advisory body in the College of Engineering. The Society works closely with College deans, faculty, and students to promote and improve the engineering program at Penn State.
