Seven students presented 2009 Oldcastle Cup
Each year the Oldcastle Cup is presented to an undergraduate student team that successfully applies their course knowledge to yield the best production process.
The Oldcastle Cup Competition is sponsored by Oldcastle, a worldwide group of building product manufacturers whose goods include architectural masonry and concrete products. Since 2005, junior-level students enrolled in specific IE courses form small teams and compete for the cup. The competition is held each spring semester, where IE students choose a specific product and analyze it from design concept to its actual production.
The winners of the 2009 Oldcastle Cup are (front row) Katie Slaughter, Jennifer Hendriks, and Caitlin Cronk; (back row) Megan Steiminger, William Walton, William Whetzel, and Maxwell Edwards. Ed DeMeter (center), professor of industrial engineering, hosted the competition in his Machining Process Design and Analysis (IE306 course).
The winners of the Oldcastle Cup will have their name etched on the Oldcastle plaque displayed in Leonhard Building and receive a monetary prize.
