The first Industrial Engineering department in the world

Farewell reception celebrates Koubek's tenure

Richard Koubek, the Peter & Angela Dal Pezzo Department Head Chair of The Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, has been named dean of engineering at Louisiana State University. Koubek will begin his appointment at Louisiana State on June 1.

Despite the sad news of his departure, David Wormley, Harold and Inge Marcus Dean of Engineering, along with College and industrial engineering department faculty and staff, celebrated Koubek's accomplishments during a farewell reception on May 1. The reception, held in Leonhard Building lobby, was attended by approximately 50 of Koubek's colleagues and friends.

Speakers during the reception included Dean Wormley; Catherine Harmonosky, associate professor of industrial engineering; Michael Immel, director of corporate relations for industrial engineering; Peggy Johnson, department head of civil engineering; Dennis McLaughlin, professor of aerospace engineering; Judith Todd, department head of engineering science and mechanics; John Dietz, director of development; Ken Jenkins, department head of electrical engineering; and Bob Voigt, professor of industrial engineering. More laughter than sadness filled the room as speakers playfully roasted Koubek for his eight-year tenure at Penn State.
