IE profession set to benefit from stimulus
In the recently released book "Great Jobs in the President's Stimulus Plan," industrial engineering is among 15 professions set to benefit from the stimulus.
Author and occupational expert Laurence Shatkin, Ph.D., reveals which industries and jobs are most likely to benefit from the president's new policies.
Cited by Shatkin, the Office of Occupational Statistics and Employment Projections of the Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts that industrial engineers focusing in manufacturing and obtaining a bachelor's degree will have the most growth in the industry, projected at 20% through 2016.
In addition to industrial engineering, occupations that will benefit include heavy equipment mechanics, mining engineers, geophysical data technicians, construction managers, environmental engineering technicians, electricians, physical therapy assistants, registered nurses, medical assistants, special education teachers, adult literacy teachers, library technicians, and aircraft assemblers.
