Penn State IE featured at IIE conference in Miami

"100 Years of IE" was a predominant theme throughout the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) annual conference, held in Miami, Florida on May 30 - June 3.

Penn State IE, being the oldest IE department in the world, was showcased throughout the conference. From the "100 Years of IE" research track, to a welcome reception featuring all things Penn State, including Creamery ice cream and an IE slideshow, Penn State IE had a dominant presence.

IE faculty attended, organized, and presented at the conference. Vittal Prabhu, professor, and Richard Wysk, professor and Leonhard Chair in Engineering, both served as chairs for the "100 Years of IE" track. In addition, Dr. Wysk also presented "100 years of Industrial Engineering Progress at Penn State" and gave a brief speech at the welcome reception.

Ravi Ravindran, professor and interim head, and Tao Yao, assistant professor, also presented papers during the Industrial Engineering Research Conference (IERC), along with a few graduate students. Additionally, Soundar Kumara, Allen E. Pearce/Allen M. Pearce chaired professor, submitted multiple papers and won the best paper award in the Computer and Information Systems track.
