Active IE alum, influential University leader, to retire in July
Gary Schultz, senior vice president for finance and business at Penn State, will retire July 1.
Schultz earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in industrial engineering at Penn State and began his career with the University in 1971. Until 1995, he handled various administrative responsibilities related to business operations, finance, and technology. He has served in his current role since 1995, leading the Office of Finance and Business's 5,000 full-time, part-time and student employees in 10 units. During his tenure, the organization's slogan was "quality service, quality people," indicative of his industrial engineering background.
Schultz is an active engineering alumnus and currently serves on the Industrial Engineering Service Enterprise Engineering Advisory Board (SEE). The board is composed of distinguished alumni who are best positioned to help provide valuable input and guidance to the department. This group of industry professionals meets bi-annually to provide input and feedback on opportunities for department development.
