IE starting salaries rank high in new national survey

Show me the money! The top 15 highest-earning college degrees all have one thing in common - math skills. Any Penn State IE will affirm that their professors ingrained those lucrative skills throughout their educational experience.


According to a recent survey from the National Association of Colleges and Employers, which tracks college graduates' job offers, the top 15 highest starting salaries for college graduates are rooted in math, with engineering jobs representing 12 of the top spots.


Industrial engineering holds the eighth spot, with an average starting salary of $58,353. Although not every person with an engineering degree will score a huge paycheck, students who have earned a technology degrees definitely have an advantage in the current job market. A large percentage of 2008 and 2009 Penn State IE graduates had job offers solidified weeks prior to graduation, while the remainder had jobs within weeks of commencement.
