Professor Soundar Kumara Meets with Indian Minister of State
Four members of India as a Global Engagement Node committee of Penn State met with Mrs. D. Purandeswari Devi, Minister of State of MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) of India, at New York on September 24th, 2009. MHRD is in charge of education in India at all levels. The meeting focused on Penn State's role in higher education in India. The honorable minister was impressed with the depth and breadth of PSU and showed a keen interest in developing future efforts.
The committee members who met with the minister included, (in the order from left to right in the photograph) Mr. Nirmal Pal (Regional Director for India, Smeal College of Business), Dr. Arvind Rangaswamy (Senior Associate Dean for Research and Faculty & Anchel Professor of Marketing, Smeal College of Business; Co-Chairman of India GEN Committee), Honorable Minister Mrs. D. Purandeswari Devi, Dr. Soundar Kumara (Allen, E., & Allen, M., Pearce Professor of Industrial Engineering), and Dr. Mukund Kulkarni (Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, PSU Harrisburg Campus , Co- Chairman of India GEN Committee).
