In special recognition of the
upcoming 100th anniversary (2008) of the establishment of
the first Industrial Engineering academic program, the "Penn
State Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering Society Century
Fund” fund is being established by alumni of the Industrial
and Manufacturing Engineering (IME) program in the College
of Engineering. This fund is dedicated to continuous improvement
of the IME program through direct grants, to recognize and
support excellence in scholarship, teaching, and research.
Grants will be given to students, faculty and the Department
based on defined selection criteria, under the supervision
of the Penn State Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering
Society Board of Directors (PSIMES).
Fund Purpose
The purpose of this fund is to provide recognition and financial
assistance to outstanding students and faculty, as well as,
significant facilities projects that will enhance the success
of the Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering program
at Penn State.
Amount of Fund
The initial principal of this fund was contributed to The
Pennsylvania State University for the above-stated purpose
by alumni of the Industrial Engineering (IME) program. Additional
contributions may be made by interested persons or organizations.
Selection Procedure
Recipients of grants shall be selected in accordance with
University policies and guidelines, by the PSIMES Century
Fund Committee, under the authority of the PSIMES Board of
Directors. The committee will operate within guidelines established
by University Development and the College of Engineering.
The Office of Student Aid, which is responsible for ensuring
compliance with regulations concerning federal, state, and
other aid accordance with University Policy regarding academic
scholarships under University control, shall be informed of
all awards.
Amount of Award
The number of scholarships, fellowships and grants awarded,
and the amount of each, shall be determined by the selection
committee. All grants shall be awarded annually in accordance
with the University gift spending policy. Any available monies
not awarded in a particular year shall either be added to
the principal or retained for award together with the monies
available for expenditure in the following year, as determined
by the PSIMES Board of Directors.
Term of Award
Each grant shall be awarded on a one-time only basis.
Gift Fund Management
This fund shall be subject to general guidelines and policies
adopted by the Board of Trustees of The Pennsylvania State
University for the management of gift funds.
