Study Abroad at the Technion
The Technion, Haifa, Israel
The Penn State - Technion Industrial Engineering Partnership
gives both graduate and undergraduate students the opportunity
to study at the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology).
Like Penn State, the Technion boasts an internationally renowned
IE program. Student enrollment in the Technion's Industrial
Engineering & Management Department exceeds 1,000.
The Technion offers a wide variety of IE courses taught in
both Hebrew and English. Courses currently being taught in
English include:
- Production Management
- Computer Integrated Manufacturing
- Total Productivity & Quality Management
- Design & Implementation of Information Systems
- Simulation Models
- Organizational Policies
Students can take elective courses in Middle East History
and Culture, the Holocaust, the Jewish/Arab Conflict, and
the Archaeology of the Region.
Two study abroad time periods are offered, a one-semester
and a two-semester program. The one-semester program runs
from February through July, and the two-semester from September
through July.
Scholarship Opportunities
Scholarships are available for both graduate and undergraduate
students.
Prerequisites & Language Requirements
Students considering studying at the Technion should be
of at least junior status. The program is also open to graduate
students.
Since classes are taught in Hebrew, knowledge of Hebrew is
required. A one-month intensive Hebrew course is offered to
help non-Hebrew speaking students.
Tuition, Housing, and Other Costs
Students pay Penn State tuition while studying at the Technion.
Dormitory fees are approximately $200 per month. About $300
per month should be allowed for food, entertainment, and site-seeing
expenses.
